Mr. Cheng is Executive Vice-Chairman and Joint General Manager of New World Development Co. Ltd. He orchestrates an artisanal living with divine vision through innovation, art and culture. He initiates “The Artisanal Movement”, the aspiration and driving force to the Group’s vision, “We Create, We are Artisans”.
A cultural entrepreneur and pioneer, he successfully created K11 – a new “museum-retail” concept combining art and commerce, building high-end lifestyle art malls, offices and serviced apartments in Greater China focusing on the art, community and sustainability. He also founded the K11 Art Foundation (KAF) in 2010, the first non-profit art foundation in China to incubate young emerging contemporary Chinese artists and curators, and to promote art education among the Chinese public. KAF has been partnering with major museums and institutions around the world to showcase the potentials of Chinese art talents.
As an Executive Director of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, Mr. Cheng is in charge of strategy, branding and marketing of the Group. He has injected his creative concepts into the 88-year-old, 2,300-store jewellery brand and introduced the high jewellery collections (e.g. “Le Labyrinthe Artistique” in 2016), which showcased the exceptional craftsmanship and creativity of Chow Tai Fook.
Mr. Cheng is a graduate of Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts (Cum Laude) degree. He is ranked among the ArtReview Power 100 list for three consecutive years since 2014, and reached #54 in 2016. He is a Board Member of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and M+ Museum, a Board Member of the Public Art Fund of New York and MoMA PS1, Trustee of Royal Academy of Arts, Member of TATE’s International Council and Member of International Circle of Centre Pompidou.
