Ahn Byung-hoon

Chairman of UniKorea Foundation

Mr. Ahn Byung-hoon, the Chairman of UniKorea Foundation, has vigorously served in the field of journalism for decades. After having graduated from Seoul National University School of Law, he began his career as a journalist in Chosun Ilbo, one of the most prominent newspapers in Korea. While he worked in Chosun Ilbo for about 40 years, he held various positions including the editor, director, vice-president and CEO, leading the daily newspaper to become the top news agency in the country. In 1987, he was awarded the Order of Civil Merit (Dongbaek Medal) which the ROK government bestows upon honourable individuals who have provided outstanding and meritorious service in the various fields of society.

Apart from his career in Chosunilbo, he has also served as the President of Korea News Editors’ Association for five consecutive years since 1991. Furthermore, he worked as the Chairman of various organizations including LG Sangnam Press Foundation and the Bang Il-Young Foundation, all of which promote and sponsor journalism to develop in Korea.

Nowadays, he is the Chairman of UniKorea Foundation, and under his leadership, the foundation is growing as the platform of the civil unification movement. He is currently a non-executive director of Chosun Ilbo as well as the Chairman of the Association for Commemoration of Seo Jae-pil and Guiparang publishing company. He is also a director of Hallym University and SBS Culture Foundation. His work includes “The Life of President Rhee Seung-man with photos” and “The Life of President Park Chung-hee with photos.”
