Chan-Woo Kim

Republic of Korea’s Ambassador for Climate Change

KIM Chan-Woo currently holds the position of Ambassador for Climate Change in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. Prior to this position, he worked as Ambassador for Arctic Affairs, the first of its kind in Korea. He served as Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya from 2011 to 2014. While he was in Kenya, he was elected and worked as Chair of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to UNEP and UN-Habitat, respectively. Over the last 20-odd years he has handled a wide spectrum of environmental issues, related to multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs), and Northeast Asian and bilateral cooperation. He joined Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1984.

김찬우대사는 현재 한국 외교부에서 기후변화대사로 활동하고 있다. 직전에는 초대 북극협력대표로서 활동하였다. 김대사는 2011년부터 2014년 기간에 주케냐 대사로 재직하였으며, 동 기간에 케냐 나이로비에 소재한 UNEP와 UN-Habitat의 상주대표회의 의장 역할을 수행하기도 했다. 김대사는 지난 20년간 다자환경협약, 동북아지역 협력, 양자협력 등과 관련된 다양한 환경사안을 다루어 왔다. 김대사는 1984년에 외교부에 입부하였다.
